About the Artist
Guy Rosati's interest in art started in his youth while growing up in Italy.
Being exposed to beautiful art at an early age left a strong impression which became more evident in future years.
Though he didn't actively pursue becoming an artist until much later, the early influence remained.
His early artworks started as pencil drawings, and later Rosati taught himself to paint in oils.
He was inspired from studying books about art history, particularly about the renaissance period in Europe.
His main influence in learning and studying art was based on the classical painting style of italian and european master artists like Michelangelo, Da Vinci, Rembrandt and many others.
Reading about the biographies of these accoomphished artists from that period, and carefully studying their paintings and techniques became a major source of inspiration and guidance in getting started in his art career.
In the late 1980s he started by working on a few pencil drawings, and after selling his first pencil artwork he gradually began to receive a few commissions to create portait drawings for clients.
Rosati then started learning to paint portraits in oils and began painting oil portraits commissioned by clients.
Within a couple of years his oil portraits improved to the point of being in strong demand, and gradually his portraits started selling in the several thousand dollar range.
His portraits have sold in the range of $4,000 to $10,000, with pricing being based on size of painting and the number of figures in the portrait.
Over the years he has painted a wide range of subjects in addition to portraits, and has created several artworks to benefit charities.
